How To Prepare For Your Future When You Don't Want To Go To College

Blog

Are you one of those individuals who was totally relieved when high school graduation was over and high school was a thing of the past? If so, you are probably not very interested in going to college or to a university. You are probably trying to decide on what you want to do for your future, as you realize that you'll need a means of providing for yourself and for your own family, even if you don't have one already. If that is the case, here are some ideas on how to prepare for your future when you don't want to go to college.

Trade School: Think of the things you interest you and consider making one of them your occupation.

For example, if you have always been fascinated with fixing things like toasters and portable radios, you might very well be an excellent electrician. If that is the case, consider going to a trade school where you will take electrician certification courses. At an electrical trade school, you will be taught by experienced instructors who are trained in the latest methods of working with electrical components. Besides learning from books in a classroom setting, you will also have hands-on training on actual job sites.

Entrepreneurship: If not even a trade school interests you, think about something else you would enjoy. Would you be good at having your own business?

For instance, if you have always loved cars, think about having a car detailing business. Talk to other people who have become their own bosses through entrepreneurship and find out what they did to get started and to then maintain their business.

Are you one of those individuals who is excellent at organizing things? If so, consider hiring yourself out to people who need help in organizing their bedroom closets, kitchen cabinets, and other areas of their home or office.

If you are an excellent cook and you also love to entertain, think about becoming a caterer. Go to work for a caterer first, and then start your own business after you have learned the tricks of the trade.

Think of going to the library to do research on different careers. Find out how much money you can expect to make in the fields that interest you. Find out how long it takes to complete training. Make careful notes so that you can use them when you are finalizing the decision of what you want to do for a career.
